Broadcast to the world via Yahoo! Live

Last week I was researching live broadcast solutions for my client, former NBA Player, Jerome "Junkyard Dog" Williams and his website AutomotiveStreetStyle.com.

JYD hosts a Sirus Radio show and his website covers the latest in custom cars and the automotive industry. Automotive Street Style also has a TV Channel on Brightcove and also at http://www.automotivestreetstyle.tv/.

JYD hosted his own auto makeover show that showcased his custom design talents and was broadcast in the tri-state area on a show called "Make It Hot". To improve the content of Automotive Street Style JYD wants to broadcast shows live with his celebrity friends and auto enthusiasts from the state of the art broadcast studio he is building. I began to search the web and read countless articles on live streaming video and potential solutions.

I found Ustream.tv, which offers a broadcast widget. I also found that there have been large aggregates of webcam communities out there. Justin.tv was another great option to distribute information to the web, but overall it seemed a bit sophomoric for my client.

Then I came upon a gem of a solution in Beta, Yahoo! Live. Once again, Yahoo pushes the envelope on developing a user friendly interface to bring web broadcasting to the masses.

Yahoo!Live is a web broadcasting community that allows members to set up a channel with an intuitive chat environment and also video chat. Other chat members with cams enabled come up in a dashboard interface that allows them to talk via webcam mic's or external mics. In 4 minutes, I set up a channel for this blog at http://live.yahoo.com/urbanexpress.. Best of all, you can embed your live broadcast player into any web page. Allowing your channel to be spread virally.

JYD and I agreed to give Yahoo!Live a shot and setup a channel at http://live.yahoo.com/automotivestreetstyle. Look out for our live broadcasts coming soon.

Outside of finding a free solution that meets our need, Yahoo! Live connects people in unique ways allowing us to satisfy the voyeuristic tendencies that the web accommodates. Also you see the humanity of those broadcasting. Like the Digga Channel http://live.yahoo.com/digga one of Yahoo! Live's first broadcast channels depicting his life and also untimely death of his 3 month old son from SIDS (RIP Dame Lee II).

Also the welcome and flair of Bob on http://live.yahoo.com/bobpopotv2. Bob is a Flatbush Brooklyn based barber that broadcasts his life welcoming all visitors, engaging them and encouraging them to turn on their cams and enforcing his rules of civility. I'll admit I had to get past his Sharptonesque Perm and love for the bling, but he's willing to broadcast his entire life while he cuts and busts his occasional freestyle flow.
I don't know that I have gotten to the point of broadcasting video blogs or prepared content. But whenever I am ready. I know how I'll reach my audience for now via Yahoo! Live.
Congratulations Yahoo! team on a job well done. Also check out the Urban Express Live broadcast below. You never know when I may be broadcasting live.
Check it out and let us know what you think. Post you comments below.

Buick Enclave "Urban CEO Edition" Customized by Jerome "Junk Yard Dog" Williams Begins 2008 U.S. & Canadian Tour Exhibiting with GM

Jerome "Junk Yard Dog" Williams' (JYD) custom 2008 Buick Enclave "Urban CEO Edition" has been making the rounds in Canadian car shows including the Toronto Speed-O-Rama, the Canadian International Car Show February 15-24 and the Performance World Custom Car & Truck Show March 14-16, 2008. For two months the Urban CEO Edition Buick Enclave will be featured in Toronto's largest and best custom car shows exhibiting with GM.

Since his retirement from the NBA, Jerome Williams has gained recognition as a custom car designer and aficionado and was asked by Buick last year to customize the award winning Enclave for the SEMA 2007 convention.

"As an events producer, looking for features has always been a challenge. After working with Jerome Williams during the Speed-O-Rama Show in Toronto, it's obvious that his passion and work ethic on the court extends to the automotive culture." said Edmund Manasan, CEO of Racemode, Inc. and automotive industry enthusiast.

The Canadian International Car show is the next stop for the Urban CEO Edition Enclave February 15-24 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

"Toronto is still like home for me and bringing the Enclave to the various Canadian shows is like sharing the next phase of my career and passion for custom cars with my Canadian family," said Williams. "I would like to thank GM Canada, Speed-O-Rama, The Canadian International Car Show, Performance World Custom Car and Truck Show and Race Mode, Inc. for bringing me and the Buick Enclave to town for the shows."

The Performance World Custom Car & Truck Show will also exhibit the Buick Enclave in the GM booth March 14-16 at the International Centre, Toronto, Ontario.

Jerome is also the owner and co-host (with Whitney Harchanko) of AutomotiveStreetStyle.com a web television channel that features the latest in after-market customs, the accessories that make them hot and the celebrities and enthusiasts who buy them.

"In 2008 we'll launch the AutomotiveStreetStyle.com National Trailer Tour that will showcase my designs including the Buick Enclave and my 1964 Chevy Impala," said Williams. The AutomotiveStreetStyle.com trailer has been custom designed to provide an interactive experience and includes; a plasma television, sound system, product kiosks and displays. "Our trailer creates an event wherever we go and we're looking forward to showcasing our team and sponsors," added Jerome.

AutomotiveStreetStyle.com also partners with Staten Island New York based Wheel Concepts Nation to present the largest Custom Car Show in the tri-state area by producing the New York City Custom Auto Show, May 18, 2008 at Pier 94.

"Together, AutomotiveStreetStyle.com and Wheel Concepts Nation provide a car show that will have over 400 custom cars including classics, luxury, exotic imports and monster trucks," said Rob Gullery, President of Wheel Concepts Nation. "Our show features vehicles that are owned and driven by some of the most devout automobile enthusiasts in the world and that sets the New York City Custom Auto Show apart from the rest."
